1st Annual Wood Land Disc Golf Tournament

They Came Up To The High Country, and they liked the FREE FOOD, SNACKS, and DRINKS... The atmosphere was fresh and clean, the sun was out, and it was a perfect day! At one of the Newest Disc Golf Courses in the State. The Winner of the Open Men's Division was Dan O. With a first round of 40 followed by a 39 and in the last round a 19 for a total of 98, so Dan went home with $175... WOW...

In second place was a nice guy named Lance, he got a 40 then a 42 and in the last round he scored a 20, for a total of 102, so he only managed to take home $125... Gee...

In third place was Mike Golden with a 42, a 45, and a 21, for a total of 108, He only got $75... :-( ...

In fourth place was our buddy Steve Johnston with 43, 45, and 22, the total 110, so Steve only got $50... Better luck next time Steve.

5th place was a tie, somehow ED, got $40, and Jim G. got $35, I missed this part, they tied and worked it out somewhow ?

The Winner of the Advanced Men's Division was Chad A. with a 46, a 45, and a 23, for a total of 114, So he got 14 New Discs...

2nd and 3rd was a tie, Lefty (?) and Joe L. scored 121 total and split a stack of 20 New Discs...

4th and 5th was also a tie, with Bob Michael and John H. scoring 124, somehow they divided a pile of 12 New Discs... COOL...

The Amateur and Novice Disc Golfers only played 36 holes, so don't let the scores fool you, they did OK, but they are not THAT good !

Dwayne Jacques won the Men's AM. Division with a total for two rounds of 94, and HE got a new Disc Golf Bag with 10 NEW discs, Way To Go Dwayne... We should bump you up to Advanced... :-) ...

2nd and 3rd another tie, Jason Wood, and Matt C. split up a stack of 13 New Discs, with a final of 95, I did not see them fighting over the odd disc.

4th place in this Division was taken by James R. who finished with 101, and collected 4 discs... Good Enough...

5th and 6th was a tie, Mike Suchock and Ken Swafford checked in at the Club House with 103, somehow they managed to split 7 discs, I only hope they didn't cut one in half ??? :-) ...

Also in the Men's AM. Division was Jack Wood, who got 54 on the first round, 52 on the second for a total of 106... and 7th place, he has yet to collect his three discs, Gee Jack, what's up with that, TOO MANY DISTRACTIONS ??? :-) ...

In the Men's Novice Division, the first prize went to Phil Mc. with a first round of 50, ? and a final score of 110, Phil got a New Disc Golf Bag, and 10 New Discs... Next Time Phil...

In 2nd place was Kim Huffman, I thought I was doing OK in the first round with a 56, until I noticed Phil's 50, and tossed the 2nd round of 18, knowing that I had no chance, I got a 58, for a total of 114, the prize for 2nd place in the Novice Division was 8 discs, Kim's got NEW plastic in his bag now... WOW...

The 3rd place prize was given to Kevin P. a 61, and a 57, for 118, total and a good round for a novice, Kevin was awarded 7 discs...

4th place was taken by Benny Anderson, with 63, 56, and a total of 119, he won 6 New Discs...

Then there was a four way tie, by John K. Dax, Erik A. and Benny (the other Benny), they each got 2 New Discs... Prizes for 7th and 8th place ??? ... WOW... What a blast...

In The Women's Open, Staci C. with a first round of 62, then a 55, and she had to play the last round with the men, as not enough women showed up to play, a 29, and a total of 145, Staci got 15 NEW DISCS and a gift certificate for some good grub at the Chalet Restaurant & Lounge... good disc tossing Staci...

The Amateur Women's Division was stolen by Bryn Kittleson, with a 74, a 71, and a total of 145, I think she only got 3 discs because not enough women showed up to play... So send us some more women next time... ;-) ...

ALSO... Someone named COY, got a HOLE IN ONE on #4, and collected a gift certificate for TWO NIGHTS at Moonridge Lodge... COOL... Good Arm Coy...

The total number of players was 50, a good turn out for our first tournament. And we would like to thank all of our sponsors, and I personaly would like to thank Mountain Tops Custom Screen Printing, for turning a fair shirt design into a work of art... Also we want to express our thanks to our good friends with the City of Pinetop/Lakeside Parks and Recreation for everything they did to make this event happen. And to all of our guests who came up here to party with us, my personal thanks, and if you can come back next year, we will do it again... YAHOO...

Also, I had a realy good time at the tournament, and would like to thank Jack Wood, for having the vision, and skill to make Disc Golf the NEW thing to do in the White Mountains...

I am not forgeting our friends with the Arizona Disc Golf Association, or the Professional Disc Golf Association, I just don't know everybody's name, I am sure that Steve and Jack will tell me soon, but thank you for all of your help also...

I will up-date this page as the information gets to me, I am sure I left a bunch of people out, like Tina and Gina who helped with the food and other things, and whoever made that casserole, it was mighty good grub, so thank you...
