The Arizona
Community Foundation (ACF) is a nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) that connects
donor interests with community needs. Unlike other charitable organizations who
distribute most of the funding they receive, ACF serves as a charitable
"savings account" where donors accumulate and preserve philanthropic
capital and distribute invested earnings to a wide variety of charitable
beneficiaries, primarily in Arizona.
In 2001, ACF’s
endowment included more than $323 million in assets and funded 1,797 grants
totaling almost $18.3 million to other nonprofit organizations. Unlike many charitable
organizations that spend 15 to 40 percent of asset base supporting annual
administrative and operational costs, ACF spends less than one percent.
